What’s it like to be

In therapy?

It’s all about you

You, your current life situation and your challenges in life here-and-now are the starting point for al meetings between you and me in therapy. If you have not been to therapy before, our first meeting will probably also give you a brief insight into who I am and how I work. But common to all of our meetings will be, that you and your life are at the center.

What can you expect?

In my clinique you can expect to be met in a professional, therapeutic setting - open-minded, honest, and compassionate. Whether you are in the midst of an acute crisis, facing some very difficult choices in your life, affected by stress or something quite different, you can expect to get effective help to achieve more clarity, balance and tranquility in your life. All with one single, empowering aim: That you get better control of your thoughts, feelings and perhaps bodily unease - here and now as well as in the future. Whatever challenges you face, you are likely to experience a greater awareness of your own reactions and a stronger realization of yourself and your choices.

What’s gestalt therapy?

Gestalt therapy is the name of the main therapy you will encounter in my practice. Gestalt therapy was originally concieved and developed by creative, dynamic therapists who had a different outlook on life than the psychoanalysists (the one where you lie down on a couch). Gestalt therapy is based on a clear scientific, theoretical foundation and on a number of scientifically based insights, techniques and methods, which gained prominence in the United States in the 1960s. Since that time, gestalt therapy has been further refined and enriched with new research from, among other things, neuroscience and attachment theory. The version of gestalt therapy you will experience in my clinique, focuses primarily on therapy through conversation - but may also contain elements of highly effective creative methods such as visualizations, role-plays, drawings, dreams, meditation, mindfulness, etc. in the work of uncovering, investigating and processing unfinished experiences (unfinished figures). Gestalt therapy has previously had a reputation for being quite confrontational and intense. And that was probably the case back in the 1960s, when the gestalt therapy first came out. But much has changed since then, and today gestalt therapy is built on gentle, non-offensive honesty. The conversations focus on the process and on what is happening here and now. It is therapy that is compassionate without being clingy - and which will facliltate that you experience your inner self, and gain a deeper understanding and insight into your own terms and choices.
